14er Fest is a town-wide event with activities based in and around some of Colorado’s finest trails. Since Buena Vista is located in a region with the highest concentration of 14ers in all of Colorado, endless outdoor activities are accessible within minutes from our vibrant downtown. The easy-access to numerous 14,000 foot peaks coupled with our welcoming community and breathtaking landscapes makes Buena Vista the perfect location for this outdoor festival.

Off road excursions are prominent in Buena Vista, as over 40 trails are in close proximity for day trips. From easy scenic drives to hardcore rock crawling, this area offers year-round adventure for every off road user. Those ready to do some real exploring will love these local trails which are ideal for ATU/UTV, 4×4, motorcycle and overland vehicles.

MTN Biking

Twenty miles of singletrack are accessible within a two-minute bike ride from downtown Buena Vista. Cyclists can also explore the Colorado Trail that traverses the base of the Collegiate Peaks mountain range, or they can try Buena Vista’s scenic dirt roads for an easier option.

Hiking

Buena Vista is a celebrated hiking destination, as there are endless miles of trails accessible within minutes from downtown. Seventy-seven percent of Chaffee County is public land, and both the Colorado Trail and the Continental Divide Trail traverse directly through them. Hikers can explore more than 200,000 acres of Wilderness Area or climb the twelve 14ers that rest in Chaffee County.

Fly Fishing

Buena Vista is home to world class fishing with over 50 pristine high alpine lakes and miles of Gold Medal status water on the Arkansas River. From reservoirs, streams, lakes to the river, Buena Vista offers an abundance of angling opportunities for all ages and abilities.

Trail Running

Trail running is second to none in Buena Vista, as a variety of terrain is available just minutes from town. From high altitude desert single track to high alpine ridges, this area offers something for every running ability. Runners can access about 20 miles of single track within a few minute jog from downtown, or they can travel just outside of town to explore the Collegiate Peak 14ers, The Colorado Trail and The Continental Divide Trail. Another route accessible just outside of Buena Vista is The Nolan’s 14, a prestigious ultra running route that covers around 100 miles and connects 14 summits over 14,000 feet in the Sawatch Mountain Range.
